Matesso Galecia (MG) Consulting Engineers were appointed as a specialist structural engineer as part of the “Re Aga Tshwane Programme” which included the installation of a water supply pipeline to Mamelodi Extension 11. Our services included the structural analysis and assessment of an existing 40m long road bridge, which comprised of precast pre-stressed beams, with a cast in situ deck slab supported on reinforced wall type concrete piers and abutments. MG CE were responsible for determining whether the existing road bridge could withstand the additional hydrostatic loads expected from the proposed 350mm diameter bulk water pipeline proposed to be supported along the side of the bridge.
